Athos

This is one of the highest mountains of Greece with the peak of the 2033 meters at the N end of the Athos peninsula, or “Coast” as the ancients.

According to mythology, Athos was one of the giants, the son of Heaven and Earth. When Giants among Giants and Gods, Athos grabbed a rock and threw it against the Gods.

However, he fell on the edge of Halkidiki, the peninsula was the top of which took its name.
